Life at Balance

I maintain flexible hours in a conveniently located office in the city of Sacramento, CA. I am available by appointment and accept several national and local insurance plans. I also contract with a number of Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). These programs cover a limited number of sessions (often three) and are sponsored by one’s employer. (If you are not sure whether your employer offers an EAP program as a part of its benefit package, ask your human resource manager.) While I try to utilize a person’s health insurance whenever possible (at the discretion of the client), please be aware that some conditions are more effectively treated outside of the parameters (and limitations) of health care programs. I completely comply with state and federal laws pertaining to patient confidentiality, though I cannot control the “paper trail” that is created once a person decides to use his or her health insurance to pay for psychological counseling and psychotherapy. Please feel free to discuss with me in detail your questions about confidentiality and accessing your health care for treatment so that we can develop a realistic and appropriate plan for reimbursement. For people paying privately, I do maintain a sliding fee scale to accommodate income limitations, and during emergencies, I am available by telephone.

If you believe that you can benefit from my services, please contact me at 916-479-5047, or . I will contact you to arrange an assessment session. I do keep some limited late afternoon and evening hours available.

During the first session, I will gather pertinent information, discuss your perceptions and opinions about your concerns and symptoms, and allow us to become acquainted, so that we can determine if this collaboration is the best fit. If we decide to work together, I will propose an initial course of treatment that includes the formulation of a prioritized set of goals and an outline to achieve them. At this initial session, I will also discuss recommendations pertaining to the involvement of family or significant others, and may suggest medical consultation. If we decide that a consultation with a licensed psychiatrist (medical doctor) is indicated, I can assist you in arranging an appointment quickly and conveniently.

Congratulations on starting your journey to recovery!
